Vets Div 6

Southend  D  v  Southend E

Sunday 22nd October 2006 played at Rawreth

 

Southend D:         Bob Shingleton-Smith, Tony Westwell, David Barnes

Southend E        Gus Heath, Stan Owen, Gordon Swan

 

The home derby between Southend D and E resulted in a 6-3 win for the E side, who had a strongish team out in Gus, Stan and Gordon.  Bob won a singles, Tony Westwell won a singles and Bob and David Barnes won their doubles.

 

Next Fixture:          Both teams are due to meet Harlow B over the months November and December.

 

 

Super Vets Div 2

Southend  B  v  Clacton A

Sunday 29th October 2006 played at Rawreth

 

Southend B:          Mike Worship, Gordon Swan, Stan Owen

Clacton A           Dave Binns, John Stubbins, Terry Kirby

  

The match was won by Southend B 5-4, due mainly because Dave Binns their number one player whilst knocking up decided his shoulder was too painful to play.  They therefore played with two men which unfortunately left Mike Worship with having one game all afternoon. This was against John Stubbins whom he lost to in a Four Setter.  Stan Owen also lost to John Stubbins in a Four Setter.  Gordon Swan beat Terry Kirby in three sets and Stan Owen lost to him in a Five Setter.  Only one doubles was played which Gordon & Stan lost in an exciting Five Setter.

Super Vets Div 1

Southend  A  v  Burnham

Sunday 29th October 2006  Away to Burnham

 

Southend A:          Chris Crooks, Les Tayler, Pete Saunders

Burnham:              Ken Jones, Brian Riedling, Bob Partridge

 

Another 5-4 win for Southend on 29th October.  Each of the Southend squad won a singles game.  Southend won 2 doubles.  Burnham’s’ Ken Jones won two 2 singles and one doubles. 

 

Next Fixture:          Home to Colchester on November 12th.

 

 

Vets Div 1

Southend A  v  Colchester

Sunday 5th November 2006  at Hullbridge

 

Southend A:          Nigel Lamb, George Reeves, Keith Philips

Colchester:           John Andrews, Steve Edmunds, Alan Burgess

 

Southend had a 7 -2 win over Colchester at Hullbridge on the 5th November.  George Reeves won all 3 singles with Nigel and Keith winning 2 each.  Southend won all their doubles games.
